BIOGRAPHY Dion Matta, first generation of Italien decent, was born in 1969, in Montréal, Canada. He currently lives in Canada, and works in the financial services industry. Influences Matta develops a style that is similar to impressionnist painters of the 19th century: rich colors, texture and movement, using brush/spatula strokes. He admires impressionnist and expressionnist artists, namely Corot, Cézanne, Gauguin, Monet and Van Gogh, and relates to Canadian and Québec painters, like Stanley Cosgrove, Rousseau and Jean-Paul Riopelle. Favorite
subjects Dion Matta is inspired by subject matter that contain elements of continuity - roads, lakes, man made structures. Calm or moving, water is presented in various tones of blue. His interpretation of beauty is depicted in natural landscape scenaries around the world, often of Italy and France. Vision As a hobby, Dion Matta is continuously refining his art through reading on techniques, painters and trends. |
